“Dear Mr. Kearney – I am taking this opportunity to express my gratitude for the scholarship that I was awarded last fall. The funds have been a significant help to me, particularly in these unprecedented times of rising tuition and college fees. I just completed my first semester at California State University Monterey Bay. It has been an amazing experience filled with opportunities. I have met many new friends and have begun to achieve some of my goals. One key goal of mine is to continue giving back to the community. Last semester I tutored 6 to 13 year old children of farm laborers once a week in Salinas. We worked mostly on basic math and English skills. I am still regularly playing golf at Bayonet and Blackhorse golf courses, where I work part-time. The First Tee has been an instrumental part of my life for so long.
